CLUB FUNCTIONS
Club functions are an integral part of the entertainment
of our members. Starlight Classics is our premier event of the year,
a light classical concert under the stars, held in the Spring. Ladies
Lunches are held every two months on a Wednesday usually, when a speaker
is invited to entertain the ladies after a light and healthy three course
meal. Caf' Society also takes place every two months. This is
a musical appreciation evening and is accompanied by a three course
meal.
We have two Societies orientated around Wild Life, the Endangered
Wild Life Trust, held every month, and the Bird Club held five times
a year. These generate a great deal of interest, as some excellent speakers,
experts in their fields, are invited to talk.
We offer a wholesome buffet dinner on these evenings.
Mothers’ day, Fathers’ day and Secretaries day are the
special days when those who are most important to the community are
spoilt. A gourmet buffet lunch sets the scene, and a gift is presented
to the specific person who is to be honoured on that particular day.
Wine evenings are held almost every month. Wine makers are invited
to show case their wines, and a matching dinner is enjoyed on that particular
night. We also have two fun wine events at our cricket pavilion in the
Summer, where a wonderful selection of wine is tasted in the early evenings.
Christmas and Easter are very popular occasions at the Country Club.
Easter, bringing with it fun for the children in entertainment and Easter
egg hunting. Christmas day has the wonderful tradition of that turkey
and steaming Christmas pudding, and at lunch time on that special day,
all our restaurants are bursting at the seams with merry wassailers.!!
The childrens’ Christmas party, with our Father Christmas in
attendance, is a wonderful afternoon of magicians, pony rides and merry
go rounds, for the littlest ones to enjoy
We have two very traditional club functions, St. Patrick’s day
and a Scottish evening. The latter is characterized by a fifteen strong
pipe band and Scottish dancing, and the former boasts traditional Irish
fare and an Irish band that would have the leprechauns tapping their
feet.
Our dances or balls number three on the calendar, the Valentine Ball,
the Winter Ball and of course the New Year’s Ball. Black tie events
with live bands and excellent cuisine to match.
The culinary event of the year has to be the Gourmet dinner. Taking
place in Winter, this is where the chefs enjoy carte blanche and produce
a meal worthy of any five star establishment. A wine maker always hosts
the dinner and presents his very best to match the talents of the chefs.
Our piece de resistance for the year is our New Years’ day brunch,
a beautiful morning under the Largest Oak, in wonderful Summer weather,
where spirits are high and an exciting New Year is about to begin.
