CCJ Tennis Champs 2012
Dear Member,Please note that the tennis championships for 2012 will commence on the 2nd of June. There are a number of categories which you may enter:
- Men’s Singles
- Ladies Singles
- Men’s Doubles
- Ladies Doubles
- Senior Men’s Singles (Anyone over 50)
- Senior Ladies Singles (Anyone over 50)
- Mixed Doubles (All ages)
We encourage as many members as possible to participate, in what is sure to be a highly entertaining event. We will endeavour to play all finals on one particular weekend with a lunch and prize giving after the finals.
Rules and format of the Champs:
- All players will have one week in which to play their match starting on Saturday the 2nd of June.
- It is the responsibility of the players to contact their opponent to organise the match. (Everyone will be given everyone else’s contact details)
- The format of the round stages is as follows:
- A match shall constitute a pro-set of 11 games. All 11 games will be played. E.g. you can have a score of 9-2 or 6-5.
- Should someone be unable to play then the person who is able to play will get a walk over.
- Should a match not be played by the close of that round and no prior arrangements have been made to play the match the following week, then the person with a higher rank will be given a walk-over. (I really do not want this to happen so please try and play your matches.)
- Matches can take place anywhere. The courts at the club at the moment are in superb nick!
- It is the responsibility of the person who wins the match to e-mail the score and who they beat to gapmaynard@gmail.com .
- Each person will be sent a revised draw after the end of every round.
- For both the semi-finals and finals a match will constitute 3 normal sets. Tie breakers will be played only in sets 1 and 2 with the 3rd set having to be won by at least two games.
- All tennis matches should be played in a friendly manner and in the event of a point being disputed then the point should be replayed.
Should there be any queries or disputes, then please contact one of the following individuals:
- 1. Giles Maynard - 072 157 1234 - gapmaynard@gmail.com

Kind regards
Giles Maynard

The Club has 8 tennis courts at Auckland Park.Giles and Graham’s Saturday Afternoon Tennis with Friends
Every Saturday at Auckland Park CCJ at 2pmThe CCJ Tennis Renaissance
Too long has the sound the satisfying whack of ball on racquet been absent from the Auckland Park CCJ courts. I therefore urge anyone under the age of 35 to join me and my fellow partners for a decent game of one of the world’s oldest sports.Saturday afternoon at 14h00 is the time and tennis is the game. Bring your racquet and come and enjoy a wonderful afternoon, followed by a drink or two on the veranda. The tennis is by no means professional, and although we place great importance on social interaction and the enjoyment of the game, the tennis is still of a fairly high standard. Therefore, if you are the competitive type, then I have no doubt there will be a good game for you too. Please could anyone interested get hold of me, Giles Maynard, either on e-mail at gapmaynard@gmail.com or on my cell 072 157 1234. Alternatively you can get hold of my comrade Mr. Graham McLeish on email at graham.mcleish@kpmg.co.za or 083 505 9687. I look forward to seeing you on the court.
